     Excavating in Tell Mozan (ancient Urkesh) since 1984, is the American expedition, under the direction of Giorgio Buccellati and his wife Marilyn Kelly-Buccellati, who are two professors at the UCLA, Los Angeles.

     Giorgio Buccellati: He obtained his doctorate in Ancient Near Eastern Civilization from Chicago University in 1965, and focuses his scientific interest on the study of ancient cities and populations in ancient Syria, especially Amorites and Hurrians, in addition to his interest in Akkadian literature and language. He is the founder of the International Institute for Mesopotamian Area Studies (IIMAS), Undena Publications, and the Cotsen Institute. He excavated in Tell Ashara in Deir el-Zor, and published many books and papers on Amorites during the Ur III period, the results of excavations in Tell Mozan and Ashara, and papers on the construction of the Akkadian language and its related literature.

      Marilyn-Kelly Buccellati: Doctoral degree in Archaeology from the University Chicago 1974 and focuses her interest on the study of Art in ancient near east (Syria and Iraq) and the relations with the eastern part of Anatolia. She published many books and papers with her husband, and she wrote many papers on religious rituals, pottery, cylinder seals, especially the ones discovered in Tell Mozan.
